I am trying your product (being user of memoq and CoTransAI.
I can not find the way to define my language (Slovak) for a project, nor to import a mqxliff file.
And, without it I am not able to try the features.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi there!

Thank you for trying Supervertaler and for reporting this issue!

You weren't doing anything wrong; neither importing a memoQ XLIFF file nor the Slovak language had yet been implemented. I just asked my AI agent to do so, and fingers crossed it should now work.

Incidentally, how did you install Supervertaler? The changes will be available in the latest version in the repo, as well as via pip install supervertaler, but not yet in the Windows EXE Release. (if installed via pip, you can upgrade to latest version via: pip install --upgrade supervertaler)

All fixes are now available in Supervertaler v1.9.108 (released January 18, 2026).

The Problems Found

1. ✅ Slovak Language Support

Good news: Slovak language IS already supported in Supervertaler - it's in the main language list.

2. ❌ Missing memoQ XLIFF Import (BUG - NOW FIXED)

This was the real problem: The memoQ XLIFF (.mqxliff) import module existed in the code (modules/mqxliff_handler.py) but was never exposed in the UI menu. This has now been fixed.

3. 🐛 memoQ Bilingual DOCX Language Detection (BUG - NOW FIXED)

The language detection in memoQ Bilingual DOCX import only supported 8 languages. Slovak would have defaulted to EN→NL. This has been expanded to 24 languages including Slovak.

I've just implemented complete memoQ XLIFF support and improved language detection:

memoQ XLIFF Import/Export (NEW)

• File → Import → memoQ XLIFF (.mqxliff)... ← NEW menu item
• File → Export → memoQ XLIFF - Translated (.mqxliff)... ← NEW menu item
• Automatically detects source/target languages from the file (including Slovak: sk, sk-SK)
• Full round-trip workflow with formatting preservation

memoQ Bilingual DOCX Language Detection (IMPROVED)

• Expanded language detection from 8 to 24 languages
• Now includes: Slovak, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Greek, Russian, Ukrainian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Turkish, Hebrew
• Slovak files will now be automatically detected instead of defaulting to EN→NL

How to Use (Once Available)

These fixes will be available in the next release, or you can build from the latest source code.

Option 1: memoQ XLIFF Workflow (Recommended)

1. In memoQ: Export your project as XLIFF (.mqxliff)
2. In Supervertaler: File → Import → memoQ XLIFF (.mqxliff)...
3. Slovak language automatically detected from file
4. Translate segments
5. File → Export → memoQ XLIFF - Translated (.mqxliff)...
6. In memoQ: Import the translated XLIFF file

Option 2: memoQ Bilingual DOCX Workflow

1. In memoQ: Export your project as Bilingual DOCX
2. In Supervertaler: File → Import → memoQ Bilingual Table (DOCX)...
3. Slovak language now automatically detected from header
4. Translate segments
5. File → Export → memoQ Bilingual Table - Translated (DOCX)...
6. In memoQ: Import the translated bilingual DOCX

Current Workaround (Until Next Release)

Until the fix is officially released, you can use the memoQ Bilingual DOCX workflow:

1. In memoQ: Export as Bilingual DOCX (not XLIFF)
2. In Supervertaler: File → Import → memoQ Bilingual Table (DOCX)
3. Manually set languages to Slovak in the import dialog (auto-detection not yet available in current release)
4. Translate
5. Export back via File → Export → memoQ Bilingual Table - Translated (DOCX)

Testing Note

⚠️ Please note: The memoQ XLIFF import/export hasn't been extensively tested in production yet. If you encounter any issues with:

• Language detection
• Formatting preservation
• Round-trip import/export

Please report them so we can refine the implementation.

PS: If you run into any issue with the mqxliff, please try the memoQ bilingual table route, which is what I use myself, and which has been extensively tested.

1. in version 132, I managed to install it using PIP process, with massive help from co-pilot
2. I have created en-sk project by creating en-nl, and changing the target language in project file manually
3. I managed to import mqxliff, rather big - thousands of segments
4. I managed to import glossary, it was indeed the most difficult part
5. I have entered my API keys for deepl and Open Ai, but they did not work
6. in the grid, from time to time, I saw hits from MyMemory, but not anything else

Are you on Windows?

Working directly with mqxliff/sdlxliff is not yet extensively tested. These are very complicated formats.

For now, the recommended workflow is:

• Export project as memoQ bilingual table (CafeTran/Trados also supported, but less well tested)
• Import memoQ bilingual table into Supervertaler and translate (with a prompt drafted on chatgpt.com)
• Export to translated memoQ bilingual table
• Import back into memoQ

This workflow is very well tested and pretty solid!

I'm currently in the middle of a massive rethink of various parts of the program, so things will be changing fast. However, the above workflow is your best bet for the time being and works very well.

Gave it a try.
Slovak is not available on creating a new project
I have changed the project languages manually, created a new TM, created a new glossary, Slovak was there.
But, no success with importing bilingual mqxliff, i.e. source loaded correctly, but no targer (in pretranslated file)
Imported bilingual table format, confirmed all segments (BTW, not always the shortcut Ctrl Enter worked, but the button under the grid was OK
But then - no hit from memory when moving or clicking on any of formerly confirmed segments.
Had a look on TM contents - one and only one segment there...

Tried to enter api keys for Deepl and Open-Ai, no success
(As for OpenAi, I am not sure whether the same properly working API key as used in CoTranslator AI can be used or a new one should be generated...
Luckily I have completed a big project today, so I had some time to play with your child.

I have added Slovak to various locations in Supervertaler, so it should now appear!

Handling MQXLIF files is quite complex and still under active development. I keep improving it and made some changes today, which will be available in the next version.

Are you sure the api_keys.txt file is in the correct format? I made some changes a while back, so if you are still using an old api_keys.txt file, that might be the cause. I have attached an example of the correct format.

No hits from the TM when moving or clicking on any of the formerly confirmed segments is a bad sign. I will look into this. Could this be related to the language issue, where Slovak might not be correctly recognised?

In any case, I have fed your list of problems to my AI agent, who (that?) is currently working on it!

I just downloaded the zipped folder (Supervertaler.v1.9.204.-.Windows.EXE.Release.zip) from GitHub, and it unzipped fine. I also checked, and Supervertaler runs normally.

Can you maybe download it again? It might have gotten corrupted.

The only other thing I can think of is that your antivirus flagged it as a virus and caused an issue.
