[FEATURE] Support for Portuguese (PT-BR) in NER Models (Anatomy & Diseases)

Context

I recently discovered OpenMed and am highly impressed by your mission: "Local-first healthcare AI that never leaves the device." As a student and intern at a medical company in Brazil, this approach is exactly what we need.

I have been testing your PII models in Portuguese and the initial results are great!

The Problem / Limitation

I tried using the NER models (like the ElectraMed ones) for clinical texts in Portuguese, but the performance fell short of expectations since they don't seem to be trained for this language yet.

Feature Request

I would love to request NER models trained or fine-tuned in Portuguese, specifically tailored for identifying:

• Anatomy
• Diseases / Conditions

Question

If there is already an existing model or a recommended workflow within the OpenMed ecosystem to handle Portuguese medical NER that I might have missed, please let me know!

Thanks for your kind words. And you are correct, we don't have any NER models for any language but English. I was always wanted to train multi-lingual clinical NER models like we have for PII models. This is a great feature requests, I will plan to create synthetic datasets starting with Portuguese (PT-BR) since you are here and can check the quality for us before I scale it to 10+ languages.
