What type of request is this?
Enhancement to existing card/feature
Existing card or feature name
{"Card" => "Area"}
Describe the enhancement
The new "Automatic Height" option has proven that heights lower than 4 are easily achievable. Users should be given the option to manually set the height of area cards to less than 4.
Use cases
Why does an area card have to be so tall? A height smaller than 4 cannot be manually configured. Furthermore, the height inexplicably varies depending on whether the area's controls are activated or not.
Now, with the new "Automatic Height" option, it's clear that it's possible to avoid wasting unnecessary space. But once again, HA has only half-thought this out; it's all or nothing.
You can either set the "Automatic Height" or you have to accept the minimum height of 4. There's no middle ground. I'm sitting in front of my monitor and I can see how much space is available! Why are the HA developers dictating how much space I have to use? Not a single HA developer knows what my dashboard looks like.
