[Bug]: Upgrade from 3.2.0 to 3.4.1 loses (some of?) the databases.

Steps to reproduce
I downloaded new 3.4.1 version, and now all but 3 databases are missing, and they have no name.
(localhost databases with different ports, mapped to ssh port forwarding)

Actual behavior
I see three databases with no name, just the host:port, i had 10 before the upgrade.

Expected behavior
I'd expect to see the same connections as in 3.2.0

I tried opening the old 3.2.0 version, but that just hangs now.

Hi @Moulde , thanks for the report! To help us narrow down whether your original 10 databases are still on disk or actually gone, could you check a few things before doing anything else with the app (please don't delete/reinstall yet):

1. Is the old DB file still there, and how big is it?

Open Terminal and run:

ls -la ~/.redis-insight/redisinsight.db*

Please paste the output. We're interested in the file size and the modification time of redisinsight.db, plus whether any redisinsight.db-wal, redisinsight.db-shm or redisinsight.db-journal sidecar files exist.

A DB with 10 configured databases is usually >150–200 KB.

2. What's actually inside the DB?

macOS ships with the sqlite3 CLI. With Redis Insight closed, run:

sqlite3 ~/.redis-insight/redisinsight.db \
  "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM database_instance; \
   SELECT id, host, port, name FROM database_instance; \
   SELECT timestamp, name FROM migrations ORDER BY timestamp;"

Please verify whether you see the old database list. This will tell us whether your 10 DBs are still stored on disk and just not being read, or whether they're genuinely gone.

3. Startup logs from the first 3.4.1 launch

Check ~/.redis-insight/logs/ and share anything from around the time you first opened 3.4.1 - especially any lines mentioning sqlite, better-sqlite3, TypeORM, keytar, migration, or stack traces.

4. Your Mac architecture

Run:

uname -m

(so we know whether you're on Apple Silicon arm64 or Intel x86_64, and whether the app is running natively or under Rosetta).

With those four pieces of info we should be able to tell whether this is a data-on-disk issue or a DB-loading issue on our side. Thanks!

@valkirilov I’m facing the same issue. When I ran the following command, I received unexpected results. I’m using an Apple M1 Pro on macOS Tahoe 26.2.
command:

ls -la ~/.redis-insight/redisinsight.db*

result:

ls: /Users/{User}/.redis-insight/: No such file or directory

Sorry @zainkhan10, but we don't have much progress on that 🙁

We still can't reproduce it properly, we don't have enough debug logs to investigate in detail, and it's very hard to guess what happened. Our best guess so far is that something happened with the local SQLite database during the update, and it's definitely something sporadic, because it works fine in other environments.

Still, we'll continue to dig in, so any additional debug logs from the community will be helpful.

I met the same situation. My origin data is import from an old Mac. Maybe this information is useful.
