Feature description
It would be great if Termux could load additional font variants —font-bold.ttf, font-italic.ttf, and font-bold-italic.ttf — from ~/.termux/ when present, rather than relying on synthesized transforms for bold and italic rendering.
Many programming fonts (e.g. VictorMono MapleMono) ship separate files for each variant. The current single-font setup causes italic to render as a geometric slant, which diverges noticeably from the intended design. This is a small but persistent papercut for users who spend a lot of time in Termux.
If a variant file is absent, it could simply fall back to font.ttf with synthesized styles — so there's no behavior change for existing users. This might also fit naturally as a termux.properties option alongside the current font setting.
I have been using Termux for a year, from April 2025
I've used a translator, sorry😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
