Error 504, 502 when trying to bulk add

I have a bulk add template that works perfectly find when I hit preview, it’s about ~4000 odd entries. When I click bulk add I get a 504 timeout. I can reduce the template to just do ~200 entries and I still get a timeout. I tried running inventree locally connected through port 1337 and still get timeouts. It is for storage location

Yeah, the bulk creating process (which generates the actual database objects) is pretty slow as I have not found a performant way of bulk creating mptt tree models. This definitely needs some improvements #15

After how long do you get this timeout error? I personally have not hit this limit myself yet. Can you make sure that this timeout is not coming from any proxy inbetween the InvenTree server container.
And how much resources (cpu, ram) does your server have?

I reduced the amount of entries to just 3 things and it still times out after 10 minutes. It’s running in docker on an aws server with 2gb of ram fixed. Not too sure about the cpu. I’ve tried it locally as well on its default port 1337 and it still does not work. I can try to give you the template if you want to see if what I’m doing is the issue.

The 10 minute timeout I increased from docker’s default of like 30 seconds.

As a side note it seems like whatever I’ve been doing has totally broken the inventree instance and I cannot access it reliably anymore and I can even delete a single stock location without getting a timeout almost instantly.

Not sure what is causing this, and if it's even related to the plugin when you say nothing else works as well.
I run the latest version of the plugin in production with the latest InvenTree dev version without any problems.

So your exact setup is it running locally with (docker?) and how many entries are you trying? I am running the latest version of the plugin and the latest version of inventree. I can try again locally to what your setup is and see what that does

Not sure about your issue. For me about 100 items take about 8s to create, so there is definitely going something wrong here. Have you tried the simplest template:

Can you please post your version and logs from the docker container (docker compose logs -f) while pressing bulk create and additionally check for any errors that show up in the notifications for an inventree admin user.

If you’d still like error logs, I can check at a later point, but I ended up getting it working. When I was trying to do the initial bulk add, it was around 2000 entries. I didn’t really understand how the bulk addition worked, so I thought it would just take a while to complete, and I wouldn’t have to worry about timeouts. I experimented with bulk adding through the api, but I just ended up doing an invoke update and restarting inventree. I found I could add up to about 400 entries at a time at around 5 mins a pop. If I tried to push it and I got a timeout, it seemingly breaks inventree and I get timouts for everything like I mentioned, can’t even add 3 storage locations with the bulk tool without timeout. Reboot inventree again, and it’s back in action.

TL:DR - Rebooted inventree, worked after that for 400 entries, if it timed out again, I’d have to reboot inventree every time.
