Perhaps the EasyEffects JSON file could include some metadata?

Such as perhaps name, author, tags and description.

It is possible. As nothing inside easyeffects would use this kind of information I never considered adding it.

The only challenge is where to show and set this information. We could add a dialog to set the values. But I am not sure if we have enough space to show this kind of information by default.

When clicking on the Presets button in the toolbar the presets dialog appears. The presets dialog currently contains some kind of list widget that displays file name without the .json extension to the left and vertical triple-dot ⋮button to the right. This could show as two lines with the description in smaller text under the name, and maybe tags to the right of the name.

In the effects pipeline sidebar it could show the name of the active preset, perhaps along with some other metadata information.

There could also be a ℹ️ info button in the preset dialog or the sidebar or somewhere that would show information in a popover on hover or show a dialog on click.
