Some information is not transferred when creating Anki cards

Description
I recently noticed that some information from one of my dictionaries is not being exported to my Anki cards. Specifically, it is grammatical information that appears between '<' and '>'.

I’m not sure whether this is an issue with the dictionary itself or with Yomitan. The strange thing is that when I copy that information manually, I can paste it without any problems.

I think it's being interpreted as HTML tags and stripped out. If you're comfortable with editing the Yomitan card fields, could you try adding <pre> and </pre> around the contents of the definition field? It will make it treat anything in the definition as pre-formatted text i.e. it won't strip anything out.

Thanks for trying to help me. I just tried to do what you recommended, but sadly it doesn't work. I'm not sure if I set it up correctly.

Something weird that I noticed is that this behavior seems to occur most of the time but not always. For example, the entry “überweisen” does transfer the grammatical information into the Anki card.

You did it correctly, don't worry, I guess it just doesn't fix the issue. I notice that in your one that works, the character after the < has an umlaut, is it a pattern that the ones that work have some sort of diacritic after the <?

That seems to be the reason. I just checked some of my cards that contain vowels with umlauts, and all of them include the grammatical information. When I added new ones, the information was transferred correctly. As you said, it seems that in order for the information to be transferred, the first letter/character after the "<" has to be "-" (for nouns) or have a diacritic (for verbs and adjectives); otherwise, the information is not transferred.

The last ones don't transfer the info for that reason.

I think Yomitan (or Anki) might be seeing <besser, am besten> and interpreting it as an HTML tag so it hides it, but when there's a diacritic it breaks that and shows it instead. @Kuuuube what do you think?

It seems to be on the Anki side. I inspected the HTML of the Anki cards and the information is there, but it is treated, as you said, as a tag. In that case, I don't know if there's a solution on the Yomitan side, or if I would need to do something in Anki.

I know one solution would be to modify the handlebar code to auto-convert < and > into < and > before sending to Anki, but I'm not sure if it would break anything.

Are you able to contact the person who made the dictionary and let them know about this issue? They might be able to quickly regenerate a new one that works with Anki.

I believe that it was made with Pyglossary so I'm not sure if they could do something about it.
