A 3-month incubation program for open-source Bitcoin infrastructure builders.
The Builder Incubation Program is the next stage of the Let Africa Build (LAB) developer pipeline. Graduates of the Bitcoin Developer Bootcamp who demonstrate strong technical contribution and open-source commitment are selected to enter the incubation track.
A structured 3-month program that takes proven Bitcoin developers and supports them in building, shipping, and maintaining open-source Bitcoin infrastructure projects. The program bridges the gap between developer training and sustained open-source contribution.
The LAB pipeline operates as a progression:
- Bitcoin Developer Bootcamp (6 months) — Foundational Bitcoin L1 and L2 training with applied contribution sprints.
- Builder Incubation Program (3 months) — Hands-on infrastructure building for bootcamp graduates with demonstrated capability.
- LAB Open Source Builders Fund — Ongoing funding support for builders who ship and maintain production-grade open-source projects.
Bootcamp graduates feed directly into the incubation program based on their contribution output, technical progression, and commitment to open-source development.
- Technical mentorship from experienced Bitcoin infrastructure developers
- Funding support through the LAB Open Source Builders Fund and ecosystem grant partnerships
- Infrastructure access including development environments, testing infrastructure, and node resources
- Ecosystem integration with Bitcoin L1 and L2 projects, partners, and contributor communities
- Structured accountability through milestone-based deliverables and regular progress reviews
Selection is based on demonstrated capability during the bootcamp phase. Evaluation areas include:
- Quality and consistency of GitHub contributions (PRs submitted and merged)
- Technical depth in Bitcoin L1 or L2 infrastructure
- Open-source contribution discipline and collaboration
- Clear project vision aligned with Bitcoin infrastructure needs
- Commitment to sustained maintenance and community engagement
